La Verne was born and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia. She moved to San Antonio, Texas in June of 1975 and then moved to Marion in April of 2000. She retired from US Army Civil Service June 2003 after 35 years of service. She is also retired from the US Air Force Reserves at Lackland AFB, after 31 years of service. La Verne graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Management. She has two daughters and six grandsons ranging in age from 11 to 21. Her two oldest grandsons graduated from Madison High School in San Antonio, Texas. The other four grandsons attend Marion ISD; three are at Marion High School and the youngest is at Karrer Elementary. As a member of the Marion ISD Board of Trustees my goal is to help make Marion ISD the best school district for educating our students.
